About This Course

The “Understanding Finance Roles and Finance Responsibilities for Non-Finance Staff” program consists of two (2) videos with a total viewing time of approximately one hour, and three resources that will assist you in understanding the required finance, accounting, and bookkeeping functions.

An assessment tool is also provided to help you determine any gaps in your finance team. One of the lessons and the accompanying tool provide an overview of the specific finance responsibilities that non-finance staff should perform.

Course Objectives

  • Learn the role of the CEO / Executive Director in finance 
  • Learn about the ‘FAB’ Continuum to learn the specific roles and responsibilities of the Finance Director/CFO, Accountant and Bookkeeper (hint, they’re different!)
  • Learn about the specific finance-related responsibilities that non-finance managers should have in their job descriptions
  • Learn how to assess your current finance team job descriptions to determine if there are responsibilities and functions that are not included.
